FOUR G'S: GOD IS GLORIOUS

Church Family,

Prepping for Sunday is a tool that Redeemer is using to prepare your heart for our gathering. Our prayer and thought behind this is for you to think more about how the Lord wants to use you or teach you within our gathering each week. Remember that when we meet as a family God wants to speaks to us through the scriptures, singing, confessions, communion & prayer.

This is our second week in the 4 G’s Series titled: “God is glorious, so we don't have to fear others.” The meaning of glory is ,”having weightiness or great value”. The weightier or more valuable something is the more glorious it is. If God is truly glorious in our lives, we don’t have to give so much weight to what others say or think about us. If we have God’s approval, we don’t need man’s and when we don’t need man’s approval, we are powerfully freed to love others instead of seeking to please them. When God is most glorious in our lives, He carries more “weight” and we care more about what He thinks than what people think.

Our call to worship is Deuteronomy 30:15-20:

See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil. If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you today, by loving the Lord your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules, then you shall live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away to worship other gods and serve them, I declare to you today, that you shall surely perish. You shall not live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to enter and possess. I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Our call to worship from Deuteronomy 30 reminds us that life is found in Loving God, obeying his voice & holding fast to Him. This week lets pray that God would:

  1. Show us where we struggle with the fear of man.
  2. Help us to hear his voice as weighty & ultimate

This week we will be singing the following songs during our worship time. These songs were chosen specifically to help us respond to God’s grace and point us to God’s goodness.

Be Still (Redeemer Round Rock)
Christ Alone (Redeemer Round Rock)
Come Thou Fount (Kings Kaleidoscope)
Mercy (Amanda Cook)
Cornerstone (Hillsong)

We also want to teach our kids about who God is. This week kids will be learning:

Nursery (birth-11 months): Our volunteers will pray for our babies' salvation and for hearts quick to repent.
Toddlers (12-23 months*): God Made Everything, focusing on the story of creation (Genesis 1)
Preschool 2s (2 years*): Only God is Big, focusing on the story of sin in the garden (Genesis 3)
Preschool 3-4s (3-4 years*): The Tower of Babel, focusing on how when man exalts himself, God will humble him (Genesis 11:1-9)
Lower Elementary (kinder-2nd grade*): The Tower of Babel, focusing on how when man exalts himself, God will humble him (Genesis 11:1-9)
