Global Missions

(Text transcribed from Chad Hilliard at Redeemer Church's February 5th Gathering)

My name is Chad and I am one of the Deacon's here at Redeemer. One of the primary areas that I serve is through Global Missions. Today, I wanted to share a few things about our vision and ways that you may consider being a part of it, as the spirit leads.

First, I would like to put together a global prayer team. I'd like to know if you are passionate about praying God's heart for the nations, for our missionaries, and other needs as they become known. If that sounds like something you would like to be a part of, please let Ashley [Hilliard], myself, or Jordan [Elder] know.

Second, I'm hoping to find individuals from each Missional Community (MC) who would be an advocate for missions. Each advocate would be responsible to let your MC know of needs and how to support our [mission] partners. You would be the person to make sure this doesn't get lost in our other MC activities.

You can also consider joining our Global Mission Team, which will meet every quarter. This group will help shape and craft our vision for how Redeemer will engage, on a local and global scale, to help reach the nations.

Finally, I am looking to put together a local partnership here in the Austin/Round Rock area, where we can work with people from other nations. To connect with people who don't look like us, or share our culture. This could include ministering to refugees or welcoming students here temporarily.

Who are the primary teams, which we are currently supporting?

  • Kaspars in Latvia
  • Dawson in Slovakia
  • Drew in United Arab Emirates

How can you pray for them?

  • Pray for missionaries and their families for their safety and protection. That they can feel God's presence.
  • Pray that they have boldness to proclaim the gospel in words and in deeds.
  • Pray for God's spirit to go before them, to soften the hearts of people that they will be coming in contact with.
